The Journey Behind the Brand

The journey behind Luscious Beauty by Courtney is a story of discovering what was possible. Courtney had always known she was capable of more, but for a long time, she did not have the direction or clarity to know where that potential belonged. Living with a disability and trying to navigate traditional work environments made finding that path challenging, but entrepreneurship created space to work differently, build at her own pace, and finally give her creativity somewhere to go. What began as a desire to create stability and something of her own gradually became a passion for skincare, formulation, and entrepreneurship.

That journey was shaped by taking chances and stepping into opportunities that pushed her beyond what felt familiar. Through WWBIC, business development programs, opportunities with the Black Chamber of Commerce, and a pitch competition where she first stood on a stage and shared her story and vision, Courtney began to see herself not only as someone with ideas, but as an entrepreneur. She won the judges’ award in that competition, and that opportunity helped make it possible for her to enroll in formal education in natural skincare formulation. Along the way, she discovered that finding your passion later in life does not mean you missed your opportunity. Sometimes, it means you finally found the direction that allows you to recognize what was already inside you. That is a message she hopes to pass on to others, especially young people: being disabled or different does not determine what you are capable of creating. There is still so much possibility ahead when you believe in your ability to pursue it.
